# Beyond Marker

Turn one exceeded goal into a nine-second explanation. This is a parameterized renderer for a single quantitative comparison, using HTML, GSAP and HyperFrames. It does not write stories or infer factual measurements.

Use Node 22. Run `node scripts/install.mjs` once to install pinned GSAP 3.14.2 and HyperFrames 0.8.30 through npm ci. Local fonts and browser GSAP are included with their notices. The renderer requires Chromium and FFmpeg support; it may acquire a browser on an unprepared machine. No model credentials or paid generation is required.

Read [the brief contract](references/brief.md) and [motion guidance](references/direction.md). Save a JSON brief, then run:

```sh
node scripts/compose.mjs --brief /absolute/brief.json --dest /absolute/project
node scripts/render.mjs /absolute/project /absolute/film.mp4
```

Inspect the generated HTML and timeline.json. The fixed goal is reached before the separate striped excess begins. Counter and geometry derive from the same values. The final reading holds for over two seconds. Four palettes are available: porcelain, plum, lagoon and graphite; `--palette NAME` overrides the brief. CJK briefs select the bundled Noto Sans SC face.

Validate the reported percentage as amount / benchmark × 100. Check entry, both growth phases, the goal crossing and final hold at native resolution. Seek forward and backward at identical times, including zero. Inspect a full 1× encoded playback and its dropped-frame counters. Rendering success alone does not establish visual quality. Outputs have no audio; no music or listening assessment is implied.

The dependency lock currently contains one moderate advisory, GHSA-hp3w-g68c-fv3c, reported through five packages in the HyperFrames dependency chain. Ordinary installation can load that chain. Pinned versions provide reproducibility; they are not a security guarantee.

The goal tick is drawn above and below the measuring strip, leaving excess unobscured. For excess below 2% of the goal, a separately labelled detail strip spans zero to twice the exact excess percentage. Its independent scale makes subpixel changes legible without enlarging the main-track ratio or raising the accepted minimum.
